About Teaching with Ed
Teaching is more than what I do—it’s who I am. For over two decades, I’ve had the privilege of guiding students across every level of learning—from elementary through college—in subjects ranging from Algebra to Multivariable Calculus and from Classical Literature to Physics and Chemistry. My path has taken me across three countries, including teaching ESL in Japan, where I used my guitar and original songs to connect with students. Each experience has deepened my understanding of how culture and creativity shape the way students learn best.
Some may wonder: How is it possible to teach across so many disciplines, even the most challenging ones? For me, the answer begins with a simple truth—I love to learn. I believe that if I can learn something deeply, I can teach it effectively. Over the years, I’ve trained myself to be multidimensional, immersing in diverse topics and experiences so that I could relate to different people, cultures, and learning styles.
This adaptability was shaped by my parents who were insatiable learners, and by inspiring and creative teachers who not only taught their subjects with passion, but also encouraged—sometimes pushed—me to learn independently, to stretch beyond the familiar, and to develop the habits of curiosity and resilience. That same spirit guides me in the classroom today.
Along the way, I’ve served as Academic Director in two schools, leading curriculum design and teacher training. I’ve been honored to receive Teacher of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year early in my career—milestones that remind me of the responsibility and joy that come with this calling.
Through it all, one belief has anchored me: teaching changes lives. It changes the lives of students we inspire, and it changes us as teachers when we see the spark of understanding, confidence, and possibility in our students' eyes. Teaching with Ed was created to share that vision—and I’m grateful you’re here to be part of it.
